Cheryl Young is the Director of lifelong learning. She has over 20 years of experience in continuing higher education, and enthusiastically embraces the ideals of learning as an enduring flexible practice in diverse environments – formal and informal. Cheryl is strategically leading the unit in support of the university mission by promoting outreach and lifelong learning efforts and developing quality educational opportunities for the community of learners, locally and globally. Cheryl holds a B.A. in English Literature and Women’s Studies, and a M.Ed. in education curriculum and leadership.
Cheryl’s interests are wide-ranging, including reading, travel, Buddhist philosophy, media literacy, and multiculturalism education for university staff.

Lindsay Carpenter is the Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning at Miami University and assists in managing the office operations. She received her bachelor’s from Miami University in psychology and is pursuing her master’s in family life education. Lindsay has worked for Miami University for over 11 years and has experience in database development and various other programming software. Recently, a key project she has implemented is moving the credit workshop proposal and non-credit program proposal forms to an on-line electronic format. In addition, she currently serves at the HTH study abroad insurance contact for university students and personnel and is always willing to answer questions.

Nancy Hoffmann is the Program Manager for Lifelong Learning, MU Youth Program Coordinator and Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Miami University, Oxford, OH. Dr. Hoffmann received her Ph.D. from Miami University in 2001 and has over 25 years experience teaching in public schools and higher education. As Program Manager, Nancy oversees the non-credit programs offered through the Lifelong Learning office including Community Classes, Kids in College, and the Institute for Learning in Retirement. As a member of the Education Leadership Department, she teaches the Critical Action Research course sequence for the Curriculum and Teacher Leadership M.Ed. Program. Her professional research interests draw upon her background in curriculum design and include youth programming, civic engagement, and narrative research. She is a contributing author in Learning to teach: Collaboration, reflection, and inquiry in the student teaching experience (Senge, et. al, Doubleday, 2001) and has presented at numerous local, state, and international conferences.
Nancy’s interests include painting, landscape design, hiking, and tai chi.

Kim Logsdon is the Information Design and Promotions Manager for Lifelong Learning. Her work links the traditional with the new, enabling sharing the same message in a variety of media. This multi-layered approach enhances the effectiveness of communication with the audience giving them the information they need, when they want it in the form that best fits them.
Her experience and education includes Printing, Electronic Pre-Press, Graphic Design Technology, Web Design and Programming, as well as Business Administration.
She has received multiple awards for her work including the prestigious Matrix Award from the Association for Women in Communication.
Her interests include Community Involvment, Travel, Digital Photography, New Media, Arts and Crafts, Home Design and Renovation.

Donna Gouvan has ten years of service with Lifelong Learning at Miami University. As program associate, Donna assists in all office functions, with her expertise being in the support of the non‐credit/community programs. Donna implemented and maintains Lumens, which is the non‐credit/community program registration software. She also works closely with the Institute for Learning in Retirement Program (ILR). Donna prides herself by offering exceptional customer service, which is sure to show through any interaction one has with her.
When not working, Donna enjoys home remodeling, traveling, and time with her family.

Debbie Davidson is Lifelong Learning’s Credit Workshop registration specialist. She brings 15 years of experience from the Office of the Registrar, Records and Registration to our team. Debbie’s expertise includes building the workshop courses in Banner, admitting/readmitting students if required, through the actual registration. Debbie has also worked in the Theatre Dept. and Accounts Payable at Miami University, as well as the Miami University Credit Union.
When not working, Debbie does her best to exercise on a regular basis, spend time with family and friends, and sings in the Oxford Presbyterian Church Choir. Debbie is also a Miami sports fan as a season ticket holder for Football, Ice Hockey and Basketball. Go Hawks!

Jessica Williamson is the Accounting Technician for Lifelong Learning. She handles credit workshop proposals, budgets and financial reports. She received her Bachelor’s from Miami in Speech Communications in 2005. She has been employed by Miami University for three years and comes to us from the Payroll office.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with family and friends, and home improvement projects.

Marjorie Pettit, Sr. Program Assistant, comes to Lifelong Learning from Telecommunications where she worked for nearly ten years as the point of contact for administrative telephone needs. She received her Associate degree in Applied Business from Miami University in December of 2008, and is now enrolled in the Bachelor of Integrative Studies program. Marjorie brings her knowledge and skills to data entry for all continuing education programs, and customer service for workshop registration, and the Passport Acceptance Agency.
Outside of work she enjoys the photography, journaling, family genealogy, the outdoors, camping, gardening and spending time with her family.
