Minors Counting for Thematic Sequences

Any minor may be used in place of the Miami Plan Thematic Sequence requirement if:
- the minor is outside the student's department of major; and
- at least 9 hours of coursework required in the minor is outside the student's department of major; and
- at least 6 of these 9 hours are at the 200-level or above.
NOTE: Students who entered Miami
prior to Fall 2005 must contact the Commencement Office,
106 Campus Avenue Building, to have a minor count
for the Thematic Sequence requirement. This can be
done at the time of application for graduation.
Students should check with department and/or divisional requirements for possible restrictions to this policy.
Students with majors in two different academic departments are also exempt from the Thematic Sequence requirement.
Number of Transfer Courses Accepted for the Thematic Sequence

Any number of transfer courses or Advanced Placement courses may count towards a Thematic Sequence.
Transfer courses that appear as "T" numbers on a student's
DARS (e.g. MTH T-01) must be petitioned
to apply (click on "Petitioning").
