Faculty submitting proposals for new courses to be added to the Miami Plan should use the following proposal forms. Each link includes directions for submitting proposals to the Office of Liberal Education.
Prior to submitting a proposal, it is suggested that the faculty member consult with the University Director of Liberal Education and Assessment about his or her ideas for new courses or sequences.
In your proposal, you will
be asked to state student learning outcomes
for each of the four Miami Plan principles
and to describe a plan for assessing these
outcomes. For assistance with this portion
of the proposal, please contact the Coordinator
of Assessment (assessment@muohio.edu;
529-7135) or visit:
http://www.units.muohio.edu/led/Assessment/Miami_Plan_Assessment/MP_Assessment.htm
After receiving a proposal, the University Liberal Education Council will review the proposal and either approve its addition to the Miami Plan or recommend modifications in the proposal for further consideration by LEC. The University Director of Liberal Education will notify the faculty member and the Office of the Registrar once the course has been approved by LEC.
Please note that if you are proposing a course that has not previously been approved by the Undergraduate Courses and Curriculum Committee, you must also submit the course to this committee for approval.
The following rubrics are used by LEC to review proposals
