Dr. Jennifer Morris, Visiting Assistant Professor,
History
(ACT I, Spring, 2005)
 |
Dr. Morris developed
new assignments and rubrics for two courses HST112,
Survey of US History from 1870, and HST 233, Gender
in Science and Technology in the 20th Century.
The assignments were similar to ones she had used
in the past, but were now more structured and
specifically focused on fostering critical thinking
skills. She found that, “Overall,
using the rubric helped make the assignment more
clear to the students at the outset, and made
the grading process more clear to both the students
and me.” |

HST 233 Assignment
Students in HST 233 were expected to write a
ten-page paper on the original topic of their
choosing that was relevant to the subject matter
and mode of historical analysis being applied
during the course. Students were required to provide
a proposed topic and sources, write a draft, and
a final version of the paper.
