Assessing Critical Thinking (ACT) Project

Mrs. Betsey Knight, Visiting Faculty, Department of Theatre, Hamilton Campus
(ACT I, Spring, 2005; ACT II, Fall, 2005)

Mrs. Knight created a critical thinking rubric for use in her THE 191, Theatre Appreciation, course.  Students in the course are required to attend four plays during the semester.  For each play, they write a review in a standard format. For the first review she concentrates on the part of the rubric dealing with identification of themes and message and evaluation of visuals.  As the semester progresses, she adds in more parts of the rubric using all five categories only on the final review.
