ADDITIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:
OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT
Beyond
the Classroom
Miami is proud to offer an impressive number
of learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.
From the creative projects of independent research to
internships and study abroad, these opportunities provide
practical experience, professional connections, and
open doors to elite graduate programs around the world.
Diversity
Planning
According to Michael Stevenson (previous
Assistant to the President for Institutional Diversity
and Associate Provost), "Miami's approach to inclusion
involves every aspect of the campus and surrounding
communities. Our commitment to inclusive excellence
is reflected in our mission and values and our organizational
structure, as well as the formal and informal curriculum.
To develop ever greater levels of cultural competence,
we work continuously to foster a campus climate that
supports learning and development." Information
on Miami University's diversity efforts and the assessment
of these efforts can be found on the Diversity Planning
webpage.
Employer
Survey of Graduates' Effectiveness
In the Spring of 2005, with the help of
Business Development Directives (BDD) and Garrett Consulting,
Miami University’s Office of Career Services conducted
an online survey of employers of Miami graduates. The
survey’s purpose was to determine employers’
satisfaction with Miami graduates’ preparedness,
performance, promotability, and retention. Survey details
are available in the survey
final report as well as in Assessment
Brief #16.
