Launching Constructivism: Celebrations And Challenges | International Congress on Personal Construct Psychology | Columbus, Ohio | July 17-22, 2005
Hotel
The Holiday Inn on the Lane (http://www.innonthelane.com/; phone: 614-294-4848) is our major host for the Congress. Located literally across the street from Ohio State University, it recently has been renovated and will provide an attractive place to meet, socialize, and sleep for the Congress. The biking and jogging path that literally runs right by the hotel will allow exercisers to enjoy a scenic trail while getting in their workouts. The hotel is holding a huge number of rooms for us and, assuming we can rent enough rooms for the Congress, will allow us to have our meeting space at no charge, substantially reducing our expenses. Therefore, when you book your rooms at the Holiday Inn, Make sure you tell them that you are with the Congress! Please note: while these rooms are being held from Sunday, July 17 through Thursday night, July 21, anyone wanting to come earlier or stay longer can make reservations with them as they are willing to extend people’s stays. Should you do this, again, please inform them that you are with the Congress as those extra days will count toward our getting our meeting space free. (For example, those of you attending a Continuing Education workshop on Sunday, July 17, might want to arrive Saturday for the stay.)
Attention students: Up to four people can stay in one of the hotels double bed rooms, making the cost per person equivalent to staying in Ohio State’s dorms. In addition to being convenient to the Congress for you, it does not cost you any extra money to stay at the hotel. So, please register there and help us get our meeting rooms for free!
IMPORTANT DATE: June 26, 2005 is the official room release date. After that date, we cannot guarantee that you can even get a room at the hotel, much less for the price we have negotiated.
Travel
By far the easiest way to get to Columbus is to fly into the Port Columbus International Airport www.port-columbus.com located just a few minutes away from the Holiday Inn on the Lane. The airport is served by 23 different airlines, often allowing for “price comparison shopping” and a good deal in a ticket. The major carriers include American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest, United, and USAir.
Columbus is an easy city to drive in, should you choose to rent a car. However, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle that will take you to the hotel. The shuttle runs between 7:00 A.M. and 10:00 P.M. You can access the shuttle when you arrive at Baggage Claim. You will find a kiosk there with phones that have direct lines to various hotels. Should you be arriving when the shuttle is not available or would rather make your own arrangements, Arch Transportation (614-252-2277) and Urban Express (614-840-0411) can be contacted. (In contrast to the Holiday Inn shuttle, these carriers recommend reservations ahead of time.) Obviously, taxis are readily available at the airport.
