Repercussions of the April 2007 mass shootings at Virginia Tech are still being felt on college campuses across the country, including Miami University.
At the same time, the Miami community has experienced its own deep sense of loss following the deaths of five students near the campus in the past two and half years.
Under this backdrop, “Breaking the Bubble: How Safe are We?” examines the current state of college safety.
Wide-ranging in nature, this student-produced, 30-minute television news documentary-style program examines a number of key questions and issues. From the availability of student mental health services to the status of an untested emergency campus text messaging system, MU journalism and mass communication students seek answers important to the safety of the entire Miami community.
The program also features coverage of a visit to Virginia Tech in October, 2007. Here, Miami students report on how the Blacksburg campus is healing and what lessons from Virginia Tech can be applied in Oxford. |
