About communication honorary Lambda Pi Eta

Miami formed a chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, a national honorary society for communication students, in the fall of 2004. Lambda Pi Eta recognizes communication students who are exceptional within the field, have earned outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies and are leaders in the department. Members network with communication students, faculty and professionals as well as work with other campus organizations to foster relationships between communications and other areas of study. Lambda Pi Eta is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association and has nearly 420 active chapters at colleges and universities worldwide. It was founded in 1985 at the University of Arkansas. To be eligible, members of Lambda Pi Eta must have completed 60 credit hours in addition to 12 hours of communications courses. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a communication GPA of 3.25 and demonstrate a commitment to the field of communications. Bruce Drushel is faculty adviser to the chapter. He can be reached at 529-3526 or drushebe@muohio.edu. The national honorary is online at www.natcom.org/studentorgs/lph/lph.htm.
