About the Journalism listservs

Miami's journalism community uses two e-mail lists (listservs) to communicate.

Through the JOURMAJR listserv, students learn about new classes, extracurricular opportunities, meetings of journalism-related student groups, and internship and job possibilities. Because this list includes almost all majors and faculty, its use is limited primarily to messages that interest many people.

For those who would like to chat about journalism-related issues, a smaller listserv JOURCHAT is available.

To join either LISTSERV list, follow these steps:

1. Open your e-mail application and create a new message. Make sure the From: address reflects the e-mail address you want to use to subscribe to the list.

2. In the To: field, type: listserv@listserv.muohio.edu

3. In the main message body, type: subscribe listname realname. The �listname" is either JOURMAJR or JOURCHAT. The �realname" is your full name.

4. Press "enter" a couple times to add several blank lines after the subscribe line. (This ensures that any additional information at the bottom of your e-mail screen does not get confused with the LISTSERV command.)

5. If you receive an e-mail message from LISTSERV titled Command Confirmation Request, complete the steps outlined in the e-mail.

You will receive a subscription confirmation response. Read the welcome message for important information on using and leaving the list.
