Messages from Past Students

  • "Tanzania is home to the most diverse settings, which means there’s a lot to do! 5 minutes from Arusha is Mt. Meru, and it’s only a another 30 minutes from Arusha is Mt. Kilimanjaro. The program base was in the city, but the city is small. We would go to the bush to visit our Maasai friends on the weekends, which was only a 20 minute bus ride away. Tanzania also has the most famous game reserves."
  • "I became more independent during one semester in East Africa than during any other part of my life."
  • "If you’re considering a program in Africa, Tanzania is definitely the way to go! It’s a fun, tough adventure. You learn to draw your own conclusions based on personal experiences, and I am so glad that I had that opportunity."
  • "From the moment that I stepped off the plane in Arusha, Tanzania and a blast of hot air hit me in the face, I knew that my study abroad experience was going to be an adventure. While most of my friends were headed to Western Europe for the semester, I had blindly decided to go to East Africa with Arcadia University’s Human Rights and East African Culture program. That one decision led me to collaborate with students from all over the world, learn a new language, climb to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and immerse myself in a culture completely different than my own." [read the rest]
