1) Introduction to the Study Abroad newsletter
Thank you for subscribing to the Office of International Education's Study Abroad Newsletter. We hope to send this newsletter out
at the beginning of each month to let you know about upcoming events, scholarships, deadlines and news from the world of international education.
2) Upcoming events
3) Study Abroad Fair – October 3
The Study Abroad Fair is our big event of the fall semester. More than 40 representatives from study abroad programs all over the world will be on hand to answer questions about their programs, and we hope to see thousands of students attend. Come and explore the options that are available to you for semester, year-long or short-term study in countries all over the world! The Study Abroad Fair will be held from 2-6pm in the Shriver Center Multipurpose Room.
4) Start thinking about study abroad
It's never too early to start planning your study abroad experience. Even as a freshman, you can start by:
- Visiting the Office of International Education website to find out what's available - http://www.muohio.edu/international
- Visiting the Office of International Education (216 MacMillan Hall) to browse through the materials in our Resource Center or talk to a study abroad advisor
- Determining what you want to study, how study abroad fits into your academic plan, where you want to live, how long you want to study abroad for, etc. It can help to talk to your academic advisor, returned students, professors, your family or your peers. Talking to your academic advisor EARLY is especially important if your major is very strictly planned out or involves a lot of lab classes or studios.
- Asking questions!
5) Applying to study abroad
The application deadlines for many Spring 2007 study abroad programs are coming up soon. Have you started preparing your application yet? Do it now, before your coursework starts piling up!
6) Film series: Intersecting Lives: Globalization is Diversity in the 21st Century
Intersecting Lives: Globalization is Diversity in the 21st Century (IDS 153) is being offered as a course at Miami, but the films shown in the class are also open to the public. The course meets 7-10pm in MacMillan 212. The schedule of films for September is as follows (click the link for more information on the film):
