Pre-Departure Information and Resources
Miami University Email
At Miami University, email is the primary means of communication to students. Email communication is the means in which faculty and staff will communicate important information to you. Setting up and checking your Miami University email upon confirming your enrollment at Miami is extremely important, as relevant information will be sent to your Miami email account from the day you confirm your enrollment.
Accessing your Miami University E-Mail
To check your Miami University email you will need your Miami UniqueID and MUnet password. You can access your email by logging into myMiami or by visiting: www.google.com/a/muohio.edu.
Miami Unique ID Lookup
The Miami UniqueID and MUnet password are used to sign in to the vast majority of Miami systems including e-mail, myMiami, and BannerWeb.
If you cannot locate your unique ID, follow these steps to look-up your unique ID and set-up a password: https://www.admin.muohio.edu/cfapps/uniqueidlookup/uniqlogin.htm
- Your user identification number is your Banner ID Number, which you can find in the bottom of your Admission letter. It starts with a + sign. Enter this number (with plus sign) in the first field.
- Then, on the second field, enter your default password, which is your two digit month of birth/two digit day of birth/last 4 digits of your Banner ID number (ex. MM/DD/NNNN). You will be able to change your password once you log into my Miami.
Changing Your Default MUnet Passord
You can change your default MUnet password at www.muohio.edu/password.

Mailing Your Belonging To Campus
Students who wish to mail their belongings to Miami prior to arrival may do so as long as the package does not arrive to Miami before August 8. The Campus Mail Room will not accept student packages until 2 weeks prior to the beginning of classes (August 8). Upon arrival, students can pick up their packages at the Campus Mail Room (located in Wells Hall).

What to Bring to Miami
Recommended Items To Bring To Miami:
- Some cash (around $250) and/or credit card to get you through your first few days at Miami
- Clothing appropriate for the season:
In August/September you will need clothes for hot, humid weather. However, the winter months call for a warm coat, gloves, scarf, hat, and winter shoes.
- Comfortable walking shoes, as well as an umbrella or rain jacket in case it rains.
- Toiletries: Shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
- Alarm Clock
- Food: Some snacks to have on hand until you can go to the dining hall or market
Items You May Purchase In Oxford:
- Bedding
- Towels
- First-aid kit
- Laundry basket, detergent
- Fan
- Extension cords
- Dishes/Cooking utensils (for those living off-campus)
- Iron & ironing board, hangers
- School supplies: pens, paper, folders, etc.

REGISTER FOR THE APCP PROGRAM
If you are planning to attend the Academic and Culture Preparation Program (APCP), submit your registration form at: http://www.units.muohio.edu/internationalprograms/preparationculture.php.
NOTE: AECP (Conditionally Admitted) students are not eligible to attend the APCP program.

CONFIRM YOUR HOUSING (ON-CAMPUS) / SELECT OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING
If you are living on-campus, submit your Residence Hall & Meal Plan Contract by May 2 at: https://www.hdg.muohio.edu/housingcontract/
Note: The University requires all new undergraduate students to live on-campus during their first two years of study. Students over 21 years of age can live off campus, but must contact the Office of Student Housing housingandmeals@muohio.edu.
