Events marked with a facebook icon icon are also available as Facebook Events. Facebook members can click on the icon for more information about the event (if you are not a Facebook member, contact an advisor with any questions you might have). If you RSVP to a Facebook event, Facebook can remind you when it's coming up and we can let you know if it is cancelled or changed in some way.

Some study abroad programs may accept applications after the official application deadline if they are not yet full. Please check with the program to be sure.

Study Abroad 101 group advising information session - Mondays-Thursdays, 4-4:30pm, 115 MacMillan. This group information session covers:

  • how to search for a study abroad program
  • how to apply for study abroad scholarships and
  • an introduction to the study abroad office and its resources.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend this session before making an appointment to meet one-on-one with a study abroad advisor. This session is offered four days a week throughout the school year. Session cancellations will be announced via Facebook and Twitter and below on this page, when possible.

December 2011

Thursday, December 1 - Deadline to complete Office of International Education study abroad application. For summer, fall and academic year 2011. Check with your program to learn their application deadline, as programs' own application deadlines may be earlier or later than December 1.

facebook icon Saturday, December 3 - Study Abroad Pre-Departure Orientation A - 10am-12pm, 100 Hughes. Attendance at a pre-departure orientation session is required for all students studying abroad in Spring 2012 on Exchange, Co-Sponsored and Approved programs. Students must attend either session A or session B. If you cannot attend either, you are responsible for contacting a study abroad advisor to arrange a makeup session. We will be discussing Miami study abroad procedures, health and safety, money matters, travel tips, registration on your return to Miami, etc. There will be a presentation by study abroad advisors as well as a panel of returning students who will talk about packing, academics, health and safety, and other study abroad questions you have.
