Staff Development Workshops

The Department of Human Resources provides workshops for faculty and staff members. The following programs are provided through the office of Staff Development. You can register for these sessions through the TRAIN system.

Attendance Expectations
In order to maintain the integrity of our programming we ask that individuals schedule  for staff development workshops that allow for complete attendance. If you are unable to attend a workshop kindly cancel your registration in TRAIN so that others may take available spots.  Individuals who are more than 5 minutes late or fail to attend the entire workshop may participate in the workshop but will not be awarded credit for attendance.  Individuals who are more than five minutes late may not be guaranteed a seat in the workshop. Complete attendance credit is a requirement to fulfill  incentive or certification programs criteria. There is no way to make up time or activities missed during a workshop therefore individuals will be required to repeat the workshop if they need credit for an participation in  incentive or certification program now or in the future.

Departmental Workshops
Human Resources Staff Development is offering a new public service for the university community to continue our long-standing commitment to support the professional growth of faculty and staff at Miami. We will be offering workshops, as requested, which are tailored to individual department’s needs. These topics include: Team Building, DiSC, Professional Skills in the Workplace, Behavior-Based Interviewing, and Conflict Resolution/Management. If you have a need not listed, please let us know. We are excited to be offering these individualized services for departments. Minimum numbers are required and scheduling availability will depend upon demand. Workshop Pilot Programs
Human Resources Staff Development views pilot programs throughout the year, for consideration of adding these sessions to our schedule.  We would like to invite university staff  to participate in these pilot programs and give feedback. Pilot programs will be listed in our workshop bulletin and available for registration in the TRAIN system. Participants will be selected by staff development from the pool of registered participants to ensure that we can select a pilot group that is representative of university staff. All who register will be listed as an alternate. Alternates will be notified of registration status prior to the day of the workshop.
