GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY COURSES
in the "Historical Eras and Topics" requirement

(For Students who entered in the
2005-06 or succeeding Academic Years)

See the table following this section for courses that fulfill the pre-modern period requirement. A single course may fulfill the geographical diversity and the pre-modern requirements.

HST 251, Gender and Third World Film, and HST 384, Contemporary Women's World History, will fulfill the geographical diversity requirement.

HST 296, World History since 1945, and HST 398, 20th Century World History, may fulfill the requirement, depending on the syllabus for the specific term you take the course. See the Chief Departmental Adviser.

Independent Studies courses and zero-ending (variable topic) courses will require special handling. The former will have to be coded for each individual registration and the latter each time a section is offered. See the Chief Departmental Adviser.

Note: Some courses are coded for more than one geographical field, but you may apply a particular course to only one of the three fields. A single course will not fulfill the requirement for two geographical fields. A single course may fulfill a geographical field and the pre-modern field.
