Miami University Department of History

Graduate Study in History at Miami

offers you the opportunity to...

  • Study with outstanding faculty. History department members include leading scholars in many fields.

  • Enjoy small classes and individual attention. Our faculty are committed to one-on-one mentoring of graduate students. Graduate classes average eight to 10 students. We admit only about ten students a year to graduate programs, so you won't get lost in a crowd.

  • Gain classroom experience and teacher training. Most graduate students teach introductory history classes under close supervision of permanent faculty. You will hone your skills in an atmosphere that values quality teaching.

  • Prepare for many different careers. You will develop skills for employment in academia, law, business, government, library and information science, and archives.
