Supronas Library Fund for Baltic Studies
In honor and memory of Ainis (Andy) Supronas, a native of Lithuania and an engineering student at Miami who passed away on December 1, 2012, the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies, together with the School for Engineering and Applied Sciences, the University Libraries and the Office of the President, has created the ‘Supronas Fund for Baltic Studies,’ with an initial contribution of $5000. This Fund will be administered by Dr. Klumbytė from the Havighurst Center and will be used primarily to establish a “Supronas Collection of Baltic materials” in the University library. All books purchased for the collection will have a book plate stating “Ainio Suprono atminimui: purchased in memory of Ainis Supronas by the Supronas Fund.” A notation will be placed in the Library Catalogue and any materials purchased in his name can be retrieved from the Catalogue by his name as the honoree. There will also be a notation in the online bibliographic record that will state that the material was purchased in his honor. The materials will be available for inter-library loan to users throughout the United States.
