Miami University

Miami's Department of Geology and Environmental Earth Science offers three programs for advanced study (Ph.D., M.S., and M.A.) as well as a combined Bachelors/MA program. Both the Ph.D. and the M.S. require a substantial component of original research culminating in a dissertation or thesis, respectively. The M.A. is a non-thesis degree. The department also participates in a program which offers a Ph.D. degree in the EEEB program (Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology). The program involves several departments and centers, and over 40 participating faculty. For more information go to the EEEB program website.

Financial Assistance

All current students are supported by nine-month teaching or research assistantships plus duty-free summer stipends. These awards carry full tuition waivers for the academic year and summer terms. Applications for graduate study and financial support should be received no later than February 1 for the following academic year.
