Course Work

The GISci Certificate has six required courses including an internship option.

  • These include:
    • GEO 441: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
    • GEO 442: Advanced Geographic Information Systems
    • GEO 448: Techniques and Applications of Remote Sensing
    • CSA 163 or MIS 281: Visual Basic Programming
    • CIT 214 or MIS 245: Database Technology

  • One additional course from the following:
    • GEO 444: GIScience in Landscape Ecology
    • GEO 447: Aerial Photo Interpretation
    • Any GEO 460 course focusing on GIS or Remote Sensing
    • GEO 340: GISci Internship

Options

The GISci Certificate can be earned as part of a Bachelor's degree program, an Associate's degree program, or a Certificate only program.
