<p>The Butler County Department of Development is currently seeking applicants for a part‐time (minimum 8 hours per week) planning internship starting in May 2012. The successful intern will be a motivated self‐starter who can complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Responsibilities of the position include developing a familiarity with the following: general planning and zoning administration</p>
<ul>
<li>plan review and preparation of staff reports</li>
<li>presentations before boards and commissions</li>
<li>data analysis and GIS map production</li>
<li>regional economic development efforts</li>
<li> fieldwork and data collection</li>
<li> special planning studies, as applicable</li>
</ul>
<p>Interns will additionally have the opportunity to pursue a locally‐focused planning project of individual interest, under the guidance of Department staff and subject to departmental needs.<br />
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program related to urban planning or economic development and should have completed at least three semesters of coursework in their program. Excellent research and writing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office software is expected. A personal vehicle and valid driver’s license are required for field work. The primary work location for this position is in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.<br />
