Jaime Morales-Matos - Trombone

Jaime Morales-Matos is a visiting Assistant Professor of Trombone. He has received the Bachelor of Arts, Performer's Certificate, and Artist Diploma from Indiana Jamie Morales MatosUniversity, and a Master's Degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His DMA in performance and conducting from CCM is in progress.

Mr. Morales-Matos has wide-ranging experience as a trombonist, performing as assistant principal trombone with the Cincinnati Symphony in 1995, and as current (since 1993) principal trombonist with the Lexington (Kentucky) Philharmonic. He has also played with the Casals Festival Orchestra, the Florida Music Festival Orchestra, and the Dayton Philharmonic. He has performed solos with several orchestras, including the Puerto Rico Symphony (twice), and has extensive chamber music experience, performing with the Gabrieli Brass Quintet since 1988.

He has taught trombone as a faculty member of Indiana University, the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, the Conservatorio Superior de Asturias in Spain, and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and has been involved on the faculties of several summer festivals in the US, Puerto Rico, and Spain.

His principal trombone teachers have included Keith Brown, M. Dee Stewart, John Swallow, Tony Chipburn, and Joseph Alessi, Jr.
