Professor Gary A. Speck conducts the Miami University Wind Ensemble and the
Ensemble of New Music, as well as teaching conducting and music education. Studying at Baylor and the University of Michigan (M.M., 1982), he served as a public school band conductor in his home state of Texas and as a graduate teaching assistant at Michigan and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Mr. Speck has won praise from Pulitzer Prize-winning composers such as Karel Husa and Leslie Bassett for performances of their music, and has issued a compact disc recording, "American Music for Wind Ensemble," with the Miami University Wind Ensemble.
