Welcome
Anyone who knows Miami knows well what a distinctive
place it is. The university is fortunate to
have friends and alumni who not only want
to nurture and preserve what is special about
Miami, but also are committed to helping Miami
accommodate the realities of a complex new
century. As society and students change, the
expectations for education change, too. Our
friends and alumni know that Miami will change
as well, just as it has for 200 years. The
First in 2009 Vision is the university's strategic
plan for transforming the curriculum, the
faculty, and the campus to meet the educational
needs of a new century. But just as First
in 2009 is an outline for change, it is also
a plan for preserving and carrying forward
the spirit of Miami University. Created with
the support and advice of students, faculty,
and staff, First in 2009 will ensure that
Miami remains as vital for future generations
of students as it has been for students of
the past two centuries. This web site describes
the First in 2009 Vision, highlighting each
of the plan's eight goals and bringing them
to life with initiatives already under way.
We welcome your ideas and suggestions.
