Illuminations

Given modernism and postmodernism, two ways of both examining and interacting with today's culture of information, where then do we stand? As persuasive as I find each model, I cannot with any certainty determine which holds more theoretical weight or sustainable practicability. Moreover, I see no reason to think this determination will become any easier in the future--technology will no doubt continue to illumine new ways in which to perceive ourselves and our positions within larger groups, just as it has since the days of the short-lived Pony Express. Technological change, then, affects a sense of self not through affirming any particular model of human existence, but rather through creating a sense of urgency in the quest to continually locate and relocate our own modes of existence in an information society.
