Miami Bicentennial Writers Festival
November 12th and 13th, 2009
On Thursday and Friday, November 12th and 13th, 2009, 16 Miami authors—poets, short story writers, novelists and writers of creative nonfiction—will return to Oxford to participate in the Miami Bicentennial Writers Festival. This two-day literary extravaganza will highlight how studying creative writing at Miami helped these writers build their publishing careers and will provide both the university and wider communities with a series of free public readings. Roundtable discussions and readings will begin both days at 4 pm and take place in the Leonard Theater at Peabody Hall on Miami’s Oxford campus. Readers include:
- Christopher Coake, author of We’re in Trouble, which won the 2006 PEN/Robert Bingham award for first fiction
- Poet Eugene Gloria, whose books include Hoodlum Birds
- Margaret Peterson Haddix, best-selling children’s and young adult author, whose most recent book is Sent
- And Bret Anthony Johnston, author of Corpus Christi and director of creative writing at Harvard University
For more information and to set up possible interviews with these returning Miami authors, contact Eric Goodman, Miami’s Director of Creative Writing at goodmaek@muohio.edu.
