Development
The Department of English is grateful to those alumni and friends who generously support our academic mission. Gifts large and small are crucial to the Department’s ability to promote the intellectual life of students and faculty.
There are a variety of ways to support the program. You may provide assistance through an annual gift, a major gift and planned gifts. These gifts may be directed to the Department though its General Fund or a restricted gift.
The General Fund is used to meet the English Department’s most immediate needs. Among its most important uses is helping to support students and faculty research efforts, travel by students and faculty to research conferences, technology acquisition and the sponsorship of scholars and writers who visit campus for lectures and readings.
Restricted gifts to the Department may be directed to fund a particular project or initiative. Among these are endowed scholarships, lecture series and professorships. In addition you may create new funding opportunities such as writing awards.
