Independent Study
Independent Reading & Writing
Students may apply for 1-5 credit hours of independent reading or writing. Students should apply by the fourteenth week of the semester prior to the one in which they wish to do the reading. Applications may be accepted, however, during the first week of the semester for which the reading is proposed. Reading in an independent study must not duplicate any course regularly offered by the department, nor may it substitute for a required course. To apply for an independent study, a student must fill out an independent study form (available in 356 Bachelor Hall) and find a faculty member willing to sponsor the study.
Students may take only one independent study per semester, and each faculty may only sponsor one student per semester.
