Overview
A degree in English not only serves as an exceptional foundation for a liberal arts education, but it also affords a variety of opportunities for immediate employment and further studies. Non-majors and majors enjoy the rich discussion and writing opportunities of the College Composition Program, and some go on directly to advanced study in composition through the Portfolio Program. Our undergraduate alumni regularly pursue degrees in law or other graduate programs; students in professional programs, such as journalism and technical communication, have enjoyed almost 100 percent placement as practitioners; and master’s and Ph.D. students have secured jobs in teaching, writing, and editing.
