When the National Weather Service declares a tornado warning or a tornado is sighted near the City, the sirens will be activated for three minutes every fifteen minutes. Tornadoes typically travel from the southwest to the northeast.

The City tests its emergency warning system on the first Wednesday of each month at noon for three minutes.
