“Having a son, my husband and I had to weigh out the financial possibility of my returning to school,” says Morio, who earned her undergraduate degree in zoology and had a career managing a veterinary hospital for five years before becoming interested in teaching. “Being offered an assistantship our uncertainties changed into possibilities. The master’s program has made me comfortable with the prospect of teaching, in part, by giving me two field experiences in different settings allowing me to see what it is really like to be a teacher. Both my undergraduate and graduate programs at Miami have been wonderful experiences.”
