Description
of theProgram
The Sport Studies major leads
to a Bachelor of Science in Health and Sport Studies Degree.
This major program allows students who have a keen interest
in sport to study it from a cross-disciplinary perspective
which includes psychological, sociological and historical
orientations to analysis. Through coursework in the major,
students are asked to think, both in critical and self-reflexive
ways, about how and why the “what is” came to
be with regard to sport and leisure practices.
Foundationally anchored in
the knowledges of the arts and sciences, the Sport Studies
program serves as a springboard for the pursuit of advanced
degrees both within and outside of Sport Studies. Students
who have completed the baccalaureate in this program have
entered graduate programs in Sport Management/Marketing,
Cultural Studies, Sociology, Sport Psychology, and Law.
