The department of PHS strives to preserve, create, evaluate
and transmit knowledge about practices in human health and
the culture of physical activity, with an emphasis upon understanding
and enhancing wellness and life quality.
The Department of PHS offers seven
undergraduate program majors,
two undergraduate program minors, and two graduate
program majors. The department has 30 full time faculty members
who are deeply invested in offering high quality educational
and research programs. The recently renovated Phillips Hall
has state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratory facilities
for enriching the educational and research experience of Miami

& Current Events
- All incoming & transfer students must
enroll as pre major and complete the requirements for entry
into the selected major. See specific program
area for requirements.
- PHS is pleased to announce Dr. Brett Massie
as the new clinical coordinator and instructor in the Athletic
Training Program and Ms. Melissa Hicks as a Visiting Instructor
in Health Studies.
- Beginning in the fall semester in 2004, all
Physical Activity Life Skills (PALS) courses will be offered
as credit/no-credit.
