Assistantships

School of Education, Health, and Society

Each year about 15 to 25 KNH graduate students are awarded assistantships. Recipients receive an annual stipend of approximately $11,300, a tuition waiver, and remission of the out-of-state tuition surcharge (if applicable).

Graduate students who are awarded a KNH assistantship are assigned teaching responsibilities in the KNH Department. Specifically, some graduate assistants teach basic sport or physical activity classes (e.g., tennis, ice skating, racquetball, weight training, individual exercise, dance).

Other graduate assistants teach basic laboratory classes in nutrition, health, motor learning, or exercise physiology. In addition, other graduate assistants may be assigned to lead discussion group sessions.

Finally, some graduate assistants may be selected to work as research assistants, journal editorial assistants, or as assistants in the Undergraduate and Graduate Coordinator's offices. Assistantships may also be available from other offices and departments.
