Careers
Approximately 100 undergraduates and 15 graduate students earn KNH degrees annually. They follow diverse paths after leaving Miami. You'll find our graduates in medical schools, physical therapy programs, pharmacy schools, at the United States Olympic Training Center or working with professional athletes. Others go to work for corporations or non-profit organizations such as hospitals, universities, or the American Heart Association. Others choose careers in coaching or teaching. Some start their own businesses.
Here’s what a sampling of our graduates have to say:
Dan Dalrymple '88

Major: physical education
Occupation: Head strength and conditioning coach, New Orleans Saints
"I owe my experience at Miami University everything in terms of my current career as an NFL Strength Coach. The knowledge I gleaned from course work in the fields of exercise science, sport psychology, coaching and sports medicine serve me to this day as I train world class athletes such as Reggie Bush, Drew Brees and Marques Colston. Earning my degree allowed me to begin my coaching career at Miami which in turn was where I gained the experience and contacts that facilitated my move to the NFL."
Dr. Jessica Stout Bell '98

Major: exercise science/pre-medicine
Occupation: Ob-Gyn Physician and Major, U.S. Army
“Miami University allows each student to obtain a well rounded education. This solid foundation is what allowed me to achieve entrance into medical school. The Department of Kinesiology was a major contributor to my education and significantly prepared me for the rigors of medical school and the academia of medicine. I was prepared beyond my classmates upon entering medical school because of the solid foundation knowledge that the exercise science program provided.
Mark Cristell '91 and '93

Major: undergraduate major, exercise science (also earned a master’s in exercise and health studies at Miami before enrolling in a physical therapy degree program)
Occupation: Director, McCullough-Hyde Hospital Physical Therapy, Head Therapist Miami University
"Attending Miami University was one of the key factors in helping me excel in physical therapy school. The academics paid huge dividends in preparing me for the rigors that lay ahead. However, it was the personal attention of your help and guidance over the years."
