Family studies major are required to complete a field practicum. This involves pairing each student with a professional in the student’s area of interest. The practicum is typically completed in a student’s junior or senior year and involves 90 hours.
Our graduates pursue careers in social service and other non-profit agencies, business, child care as administrators, consultants, human service professionals, and as educators. Some enroll in graduate programs or enroll in law school.

Social Work
The social work major is for students preparing for generalist social work practice. Our program emphasizes client strengths and diversity, and our classes provide an excellent educational environment.
You’ll receive a professional foundation in social work values and ethics, diversity, social and economic justice, at-risk populations, human behavior and the social environment, social welfare policy and services, and social work practice and research. We emphasize field practice and you can choose from a variety of internships, ranging from inner-city to rural environments.
Social work majors are required to complete an internship consisting of 450 hours at one or more agencies over a two-semester period their senior year.
When you graduate, you are licensure eligible and can apply for your Ohio social work license from the National Association of Social Workers.
