Jane and Dessie Rees Scholarship

Each year, the Jane and Dessie Rees Scholarship is awarded to at least one graduate student (full and/or part/time) in the Department of Family Studies and Social Work. The scholarship amounts to at least $1,000 a year.

Eligibility

All FSW full or part-time continuing graduate students who plan to graduate in December 2007, May 2008, or August 2008; have an overall GPA of 3.0; and complete the application including the required essay responses are eligible to apply. The scholarship is competitive and applicants are evaluated on the basis of GPA and essay responses.

Scholarship Applications

Students who wish to apply should complete an application form, provide a current transcript (copy of DARS is acceptable), a resume, and respond to questions specified on the application form.

Deadline

Deadline is April 15.

Fred C. Whitcomb Scholarship

Each year, the Fred C. Whitcomb Scholarship provides about $6,800 in support to one graduate student majoring in Family and Child Studies.

Eligibility

All FSW continuing graduate students are eligible to apply. Selection is based on such factors as outstanding academic achievement, strength of recommendation letters, the student’s commitment to the field of family and child studies, and financial need.

The Fred C. Whitcomb Scholarship application must be submitted by the deadline to be considered for this scholarship.

Scholarship Applications

You will need a current transcript, a curriculum vitae, and recommendation letters from two faculty members.

Download the attached Whitcomb Scholarship application (PDF) or obtain a form from the FSW office in 101A McGuffey Hall. The application must be filled out completely and must include two supporting letters and official transcript.
