The Department:  The Department of Educational Leadership offers masters degrees in school leadership, curriculum and teacher leadership, and student affairs in higher education, with doctoral degrees in administration and curriculum and student affairs in higher education, and teaches courses in the undergraduate teacher preparation program.  The department has 20 FTE faculty, 11 graduate teaching associates, and 6 graduate assistants.

Department of Kinesiology & Health

Kinesiology & Health:  Assistant Professor to teach exercise science courses including, but not limited to, Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription, Exercise Management of Chronic Diseases, Physiological & Biophysical Aspects of Human Activity, some laboratory instruction; undergraduate and graduate advising; produce sustainable and significant research; seek external grant funding; be professionally engaged; contribute to curriculum development and department service.   

Require:  Doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related area by time of appointment; knowledge of or experience working in an Exercise Science laboratory; teaching ability in Exercise Science; knowledge of or experience working with multicultural populations. 

Desire:  Successful grant and external funding record; demonstrated promise of sustainable and significant research program; laboratory experiences; skills to incorporate technology in teaching; international experience/focus; previous university teaching.

Kinesiology & Health:  Clinical Faculty/Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) Director to teach athletic training courses; coordinate off-campus clinical experiences; direct, coordinate, complete and submit reports that address all aspects of the ATEP to ensure maintenance of all CAATE standards and guidelines to allow the program to remain in good standing; advise and recruit students; supervise athletic training students; serve on departmental and university committee; perform other duties as directed by the department chair.  

Require:  Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field; five years of experience in clinical practice; teaching experience in a CAATE-approved ATEP; CIE credential; BOC certification; eligibility for Ohio state license in Athletic Training; member of the NATA; knowledge of or experience working with multicultural populations. 

Desire:  Doctorate; previous experience serving as program director or clinical coordinator.

Require: Earned doctoral degree in Social Work or related area by time of appointment; ability and interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; scholarly contributions in the field of social work, family studies, human development or related field; history of or potential for external funding; knowledge of or experience with multicultural populations.

Desire: University teaching experience; ability to teach both social work and family studies/human development courses; an MSW degree with at least two years of post-masters social work experience; experience in multidisciplinary academic environment; active engagement in community and professional service.

Teacher Education:  Assistant Professor to teach Literacy/Language Arts methods courses in middle and/or high school education programs; supervise field-based program experiences; advise undergraduate and graduate students; teach graduate courses; supervise graduate research, conduct and publish research; provide service to the department, university and profession.   

Require:  Earned doctorate in Education with emphasis in Literacy/Language Arts or a closely related field; ABDs will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be completed by the time of appointment; evidence of research and scholarship; three or more years of teaching experience in middle and/or high school; knowledge of content area literacy and background in working with diverse student populations in grades 6-12.

Desire:   Knowledge of metacognitive processes and strategies for developing reading comprehension in secondary school students; culturally diverse, urban, or international settings; leadership in state and national professional organizations; experience with school-university partnerships; ability to contribute to existing strengths and initiatives, such as preparing teachers to work with English Language Learners and to integrate literacy and technology in the classroom.

Educational Leadership:  Assistant Professor in the Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) program to teach in two of the following areas:  Diversity, Equity, and Culture in Student Affairs; Student Affairs Leadership and administration; Student Development Theory; and Inquiry in Student Affairs; advise master’s and doctoral students, including serving on committees; conduct research; secure grant funding; assist with program administration and provide service to the institution.

Require:  Earned doctorate in Higher Education/College Student Personnel/Student Affairs or area directly related to college student affairs, by date of appointment; excellent teaching skills; promise of research and scholarship; commitment to student advising and mentoring; experience in student affairs or related practice; ability to assist in program administration; knowledge of multicultural education or background in and commitment to working with diverse student populations. 

Prefer:  Ability to add to the diversity of the faculty fundable research agenda or successful grant record; readiness to direct dissertations; demonstrated professional involvement; ability to contribute primarily to the Student Affairs in Higher Education program and secondarily to the broader Department of Educational Leadership.
