Admissions Information

Thank you for your interest in the Curriculum & Instruction and Professional Development licensure in the Department of Educational Leadership at Miami University.

We believe that educational leadership is an intellectual, moral and craft practice--a practice that must be informed by reflection situated in the cultural, political, and ethical contexts of schooling.

The Department of Educational Leadership's Curriculum and Instruction and Professional Development (CIPD) Licensure prepares administrators to address the fundamental questions central to the reform of schools. Our CIPD Licensure program emphasizes the teaching and learning process, the cultural and political context of schools, and the moral and ethcial dimensions of schooling as well as a renewed concern with the clincial dimension of professional practice.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Enrollment into the licensure program requires the follwing minimum qualifications:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in education with a minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Possession of a professional teacher licensure
  • Two years teaching experience

ENROLLMENT PROCESS

1. Complete the Application for Admission to the Graduate School. This form is found in the "Graduate Study at Miami University" viewbook and is available from the Department of Educational Leadership, 304 McGuffey Hall, 513-529-6825, or the Graduate School office, 102 Roudebush Hall, 513-529-3734 or by clicking here.

2. The student must request that one original transcript of the highest degree earned be sent to the Graduate School (102 Roudebush Hall). (Students who have attended Miami University for this degree need not submit a transcript.)

*Please select "continuing nondegree graduate status" when completing your Graduate School Application.

**If you intened to pursue a graduate degree in educational leadership in addition to the licensure, please visit the Curriculum and Teacher Leadership, Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Education program pages for application instructions.**
