Doctoral programs: Ph.D. candidates complete course work beyond the master’s degree plus a written and oral comprehensive exam and a dissertation. Ed.D. candidates complete course work beyond the master’s degree and use either the quantitative or qualitative paradigm to add to the knowledge and understanding of important theoretical and professional issues at the elementary or secondary level of education.
