Undergraduate Programs and Endorsements
School of Education, Health, and Society
At Miami, our focus is preparing undergraduates for classroom positions. You can choose a major in teacher education and go straight into a teaching position without going to graduate school.

By your junior year, you will have had a field work placement. In your senior year, you will be placed in a student teaching position. By graduation, you will have been immersed in your future profession, and have received mentoring and feedback each step of the way.
When you complete Miami’s undergraduate program, you are eligible for a four-year resident educator teaching license. Upon successful completion of the resident educator program, you will be eligible for a five-year professional teaching license. You will be able to renew that license every five years with additional coursework. The state of Ohio has two other licenses teachers can apply for by meeting additional requirements above and beyond coursework.
For further information about Ohio's licensure structure please visit this website.
Note: Licensure requirements do change. For detailed programs of study for each major go here.* Students who declared a teacher education major prior to the current catalog year should go to 404 McGuffey Hall for “pink advising sheets” outlining the program of study that applies to them.
