“I loved being at Miami. When I arrived, I ran into awesome professors who were willing to lend me their helping hand in achieving my goal of pursuing a graduate degree in America, in adjusting and understanding the American culture, and in being inquisitive about my home country and culture. I learned progressive methodology and educational theories that I am now able to apply in my position as a head teacher on an everyday basis due to the multi-age, multi-culture, and multi-proficiency level of our student body. Moreover, thanks to the patience of my professors, I also learned the "Anglo" writing style, which is so necessary for research, grant applications, etc., a crucial part of any administrative/management position in education. My Miami years were the best time I had in America,” says Katerina Kebza Young.

Before returning to her home in the Czech Republic, she proceeded to get certified and received an ESL (English as Second Language) endorsement. She taught as an ESL teacher in New York, Michigan, Missouri, and Texas.

After 13 years in the United States, she returned home. Her role as a head teacher is parallel to being a principal in an American school. The International School in Olomouc is a small, but growing private school that serves students from expatriate families in the region and Czech families that want their children to be educated in English from early on.
