EDL graduate students host 10th annual conference

Charles P. Gause, an associate professor at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and Miami University graduate, will be keynote speaker at Miami's EDL Graduate Student Conference on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The conference is the 10th annual such event organized totally by graduate students in the educational leadership department.

Presentations and workshops will focus on the theme "Leadership, Culture, and Pedagogy: What Is Social Justice in Education, Really? Examining Social Justice Across Multiple Educational Landscapes."

Gause, who received his Ph.D. in administration from Miami in 2001, teaches classes in leadership in the department of educational leadership and cultural foundations at UNC Greensboro.


He is a former public school teacher, social service worker and K-12 school administrator and is also the author or co-author of several books.

Gause recently received the National Faculty Mentor Role Model of the Year Award at the 10th National Role Models Conference, held Sept. 11-14 in Washington, D.C. The conference was organized by Minority Access Inc, a non-profit firm, with support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
