Rousmaniere elected president of international group

Kate Rousmaniere, chair of the department of educational leadership, was recently elected to a three-year term as president of the International Standing Conference for the History of Education (ISCHE) at the organization’s annual meeting in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Society, is the first woman and third American president of ISCHE.
The organization was founded in 1978 to promote international scholarship and professional collaboration in the field of the history of education. With an annual membership of 550 members from 30 national societies in Europe, North and South America, Africa and the Middle East, the organization sponsors an annual meeting and cooperates with a refereed journal, Paedagogica Historica.
Upcoming ISCHE events include a special meeting on educational history in Asia, held in Kolkata, India; participation in the annual meeting of the International Committee for Historical Sciences; and a joint meeting with the History of Disability Association and the Society for the History of Children and Youth.
