Tom Romano, professor of teacher education and one of two Miami University Naus Family Faculty Scholars, says that a good education starts with hard work from students and teachers.

During his three-year appointment as a Naus Family Faculty Scholar, Romano will receive additional funding for professional expenses and salary enhancement.
Romano, a 1971Miami graduate, has taught English methods and writing at Miami since 1995 and taught high school students for 17 years before that. He is nationally known for his efforts to enhance the teaching of writing and is the author of five books and numerous articles, poems, chapters, and book reviews about teaching English and writing.
His many awards for teaching include the Richard T. Delp Outstanding Faculty Award from the School of Education, Health and Society and the Alumni Association's Effective Educator Award in 2007.
