Miami student shares her college story

7/22/09
Tierionna Morris, an integrated English Language Arts Education major, recently participated in The New York Times' Education Life Essay competition. Her description of the challenges she faced in financing her education was among those published.
Morris, a senior from Louisville, Ky., says Miami is a place she loves.
"I've met a lot of really caring faculty and staff. They have challenged me to be the person I am. I know I’ll be very prepared when I do my student teaching."
Morris has been active in Miami's Urban Teaching Cohort, which provides first-hand urban experiences to teacher candidates interested in careers in urban schools.
Morris will be student teaching and living on the west side of Chicago this fall.
