Dr. Sherman has received the following degress: Ph.D. at Wayne State University. Detroit, MI..Educational Psychology. 1971; M.A at. Arizona State University, Tempe,AZ. Music, 1964; and B.S. at Bowling Green State University. Bowling Green, OH. Music. 1963.

His research interests include Educational Psychology, Humor, Lewinian interactional psychology, group dynamics, social psychology, ecological psychology, naturalistic observation, Self-esteem/concept, Cooperative Learning Pedagogy, Children's humor, Fine Art/humor, Cognitive Psychology, classroom uses of Internet facilities to enhance learning.

Before entering the academy as an Educational Psychologist, Dr. Sherman was both a professional musician as well as a public school instrumental music teacher in the elementary and secondary schools in the Detroit, Michigan area.
