Sally Lloyd, a professor in the educational leadership department and women’s studies, is the 2009 recipient of the Richard T. Delp Outstanding Faculty Award from Miami University’s School of Education, Health and Society.

“Sally’s gift as an educator can be measured by the impact she has had on students and on Miami,” said Carine M. Feyten, EHS dean. “She exemplifies the best qualities one could ask of a faculty member.”

Colleagues described Lloyd as an exceptional scholar who has continued to teach both undergraduates and graduate students while holding multiple administrative positions, including interim associate vice president for institutional diversity, interim and acting dean of EHS, director of women’s studies, interim co-director of the Center for American and World Cultures and chair of the Family and Consumer Science Department.

“Dr. Lloyd is always available to students.  I often wondered if she had a twin somewhere,” said a former student in a nomination letter.

Other nominators commented on the warmth and kindness she exudes and the time-consuming and often invisible work she takes on to make Miami a better place and to give students a better experience.

The Delp award is awarded annually to an outstanding EHS faculty member who has significantly influenced the lives of students. Awardees are also expected to have provided academic leadership and to have been actively engaged in research and service.

Recipients receive a $2,500 fund for professional development in addition to a $1,500 increase in base pay.
