EDL Alumns at 2009 OSBA Conference

EDl faculty and alumni at 2009 Capital Conference, Columbus, Ohio

The EDL booth was another big draw at this year's Ohio School Board's Association Conference in Columbus, November 9-10.  Visitors from across the ages stopped by.  Helping to host the booth were Clairi Huff Franklin, currently doctoral student and Al Kettlewell-- both of whom missed this picture, and doctoral graduates Gayle Niehause, Judy Vermillion, Barb Curry and Steve Price (back row); and professors Kate Rousmaniere, Jim Burchyett, and Kathy Mecoli (front row).

EDL Reunion

For the past four years, EDL doctoral alumni have met in McGuffey Hall during Miami's Reunion weekend to reconnect with old friends and learn about recent activities in the Department.

2008 EDL reunion

A central event in the EDL reunion is the celebration of an outstanding fund-raising project initiated by former professors and colleagues. The EDL Fellows Program is designed to enhance financial support for EDL doctoral students. An afternoon session of a panel of EDL alums currently working in the field was designed to continue to build bridges between EDL and the field of K-12 education by sharing wisdom of graduates in educational leadership positions.

2008 EDL Reunion

Since its inception in 2008, the EDL Fellows program has attracted eleven Founding Fellows, including Cheryl Gabe ( Ph.D 1988), Beth Muskopf (Ph.D. 1998), Phil Price (Ph.D. 1978), and Jim and Connie Smith, (Ph.D    ).   These Fellows join former faculty members Al Kettlewell, James Burchyett, Jim Showkeir, and Charles Teckman. Their efforts join with the late Hugh Morrison and John Shrive, former faculty members, who established the program’s original two fellowships.

A plaque hangs outside of the Department office honoring their generosity.
