White Oak

This tree is easily recognized because of its lightly colored bark. The tree can be found in the eastern portion of the United States, from Maine to northern Florida, but also in other states such as Michigan and Wisconsin. These trees sometimes live to be 800 years old. This tree grows in the thick forest, and can sometimes be found to stand 6O to 80 feet tall. The bark on these big trees is sometimes 2 inches thick. This plant's wood is so beautiful that it is often used in the construction of boats and sometimes hardwood floors.

Let's talk about Seed dispersal instead. I know you've seen an acorn before. Well, that's what this plant puts its seeds into. Squirrels and other mammals love to eat this. The acorns are shaped like little capsules. The end of the acorn looks like it has a little helmet on its head. Here is a picture of the acorn seed,

Now the big question, How does this plant disperse its seed?

By Animal

By Wind

By Water

By Animals

Yes, you are absolutely correct! These seeds are spread by either catching on to an animals fur and sooner or later falling off, or by animals eating them. Animals such as squirrels like to eat these, and when they defecate the seed falls in a new place. From here it will grow into a new tree. The rest is history!

choose another tree

By Water

Sorry, once again these trees don't all grow around water, but still the need to disperse their seeds.

By Wind

I'm sorry. You need to think about some other options. Acorns are too heavy to be blown around much.
